ALAP member appointed to Supreme Court of Nova Scotia (Family Division)

The Association of Legal Aid Plans of Canada (ALAP) is pleased to share that Charlene Moore, KC, former chief executive officer of the Nova Scotia Legal Aid Commission and a long-standing member of ALAP, has been appointed a judge of the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia (Family Division).

The announcement was made July 6, 2026, by the Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.

Justice Moore joined Nova Scotia Legal Aid in 1999 and served as chief executive officer from 2022 until her appointment to the bench.

ALAP congratulates Justice Moore on this well-deserved appointment and thanks her for her years of dedicated service to legal aid, as well as her significant contributions to ALAP and its work advancing access to justice across Canada.
